Reverse osmosis water runs constantly

Reverse osmosis system runs constantly, little water?

212 words, 1 minute read.

If your reverse osmosis system is constantly producing wastewater (you can hear it from a noise in the drain), or uses too much wastewater as opposed to the cleaned water, a little maintenance is necessary. To perform this, you will need the following 2 products:

A shut-off valve and a flow limiter. The two linked products are for the 7 Star system. They are two central components of a reverse osmosis system that perform different but interacting functions.

  • Shut-off valve :
Needed to prevent the system from continuing to run once the storage tank is full. Without this valve, water would continuously drain as wastewater.
Required for all tank-based osmosis systems.
  • Flow restrictor:
Regulates the wastewater flow to build up the necessary back pressure on the membrane. This enables reverse osmosis and optimises the ratio of pure water to wastewater.

How do these two parts work together?

The flow restrictor provides the pressure that allows the membrane to work.

  • The shut-off valve uses the pressure from the storage tank to stop the flow of water when the tank is full.
  • Both work together with the pre-filters.
  • Important: They do not work reliably with clogged filters. Therefore, please always check whether you need a 10-inch filter set and, if necessary, a 150 membrane after 24 months.
  • For the Smart Energy+ system, you need the small filter set for Smart

A little maintenance will make your system fit again. And that for little money…
