Shipping costs too high or socialsustainability
Are the shipping costs too high for you? If you look at it exactly, it’s not only the “postage costs” but also packaging and everything that has to do with it. I will also address this here. But many only look at the “shipping costs” or “free delivery” – all bait offers and diabolical seductions. By the way: I haven’t really increased my product prices for years.
The “shipping costs” are set up as a flat rate to offer you a clear and simple overview.
They are tuned to an average weight of up to 4 kg per package, but that doesn’t even cover the cost of everything related to shipping. If you buy goods with a higher weight or several items, the shipping costs will be relatively cheaper, because I then add something more, or forego profit. If the weight is small, shipping is relatively more expensive. This is because the process of packaging, as well as the shipping materials required, raise certain costs that have to be refinanced. The work process for a large package is only slightly higher than that for a large one. In addition, there are the costs for the boxes, padding, leak protection, glue and even the disposal costs for the box I send you. Yes, it has already come that far in this country. Everything that has already been calculated before is “sold” and charged again under a different name.
Where do the shipping costs come from?
Shipping costs result from the work of various professional groups, such as drivers, carriers as well as vehicle procurement costs, vehicle maintenance costs such as diesel, oil, repairs) insurance, employers’ liability insurance association contributions, health care for employees, artificially created and rip-off “tolls” etc. Many more could probably be listed. The extension of tolls to federal highways in particular is currently leading to a further increase in shipping costs. In the age of “large corporations” that like to determine the markets, people are used to getting goods partly “free of shipping costs”. The so-called “free shipping” is of course calculated elsewhere or in other disciplines, such as personnel costs. Employees in this area often receive starvation wages. Mostly it is subcontractors who can barely survive. If at all. Unfortunately, illness, vacation, retirement provision, labor and even human rights are often absent. Not to forget the good “DATA” with which you pay today. Your shopping behavior, your creditworthiness, etc. The artificially built up cost pressure and unnecessary bureaucratic monsters have led to this. Of course, we as customers did not want this. Nevertheless, we support these trends with our purchase decision (small retailer or large corporation), or not.
I don’t want to go too far here. It should only be said that you should think about it once in a while, if it is always about getting more for less. I know, the “big ones” show it that way. But unfortunately I can’t change anything about this on my own. Nor should it be a role model from a human point of view, or should it?
Do you really want to support these trends?
With my actions, I want to preserve humanity, personality, individuality and choices (small, independent company or exploitative large corporation) as well as the freedom of people. That’s what I do with heart and soul.
By the way: The shipping prices directly at the counter are more expensive than those you get in my shop. Because I pass on my discounted price, which I receive as an entrepreneur, directly to you.
Shipping material:
The share of the costs of shipping material, such as parcel labels, boxes, adhesive tape, cushioning films, is also not insignificant. And what many customers don’t know: I have to pay for the disposal of batteries contained in devices and for the disposal of cardboard boxes and other outer packaging, such as bottles and closures, for you as a customer to the dual systems. This also raises costs that hardly any customers are aware of. Surely you are now amazed at how small entrepreneurs in particular are ripped off, how surely you are too….
Tax havens – but only for the “big ones”
I don’t want to complain, but according to the press release, there are many large companies that, unlike me as a small entrepreneur, do not pay taxes and other charges. Retreat to tax havens with “legal tricks” and still make your turnover in Germany. Ultimately, at the expense of the smaller ones and, of course, at your expense as citizens. Unfortunately, I can’t stand up to that, but I’m an independent sole proprietor and not a monopolist. Greedy people who work exploitatively and mercilessly push small companies out of the market with their prices are apparently working to have the monopoly and then dictate the prices in order to be able to “enslave” us further. In the end, this can be very expensive.
And then you may no longer have the opportunity to support diversity. We have already experienced this in some areas (corner shops, etc.). Social sustainability is therefore more important to me. Please ensure more fairness with your buying behavior. Because we as humans are the creators and actually have the power. But we should never know that.
Nevertheless, of course I understand that you want to get the goods as cheap as possible. Nevertheless, you should consider the background and shop with a bit of social conscience as far as possible. I also know that many people, especially because of these developments, have little money. I try to do justice to this with moderate product prices , as far as I can.
For a long time, I have therefore not supported monopoly giants or those that want to become monopoly giants with my purchases, such as the big data octopus, where far too many people still shop thoughtlessly. (you know…) Or whose “free” mailboxes many still use. It is frightening to me how all this works.
Environmental protection
I currently still pay a surcharge for each package so that the goods are shipped to you in a “climate-neutral” manner. DHL is part of the climate scam with “DHL gogreen”.
Packaging:
I try to strike a balance between the amount of packaging and the safety of shipping. But sensitive items in particular, such as bottles and containers, must be safely packaged on their journey. Of course, this is especially true for chemicals.
I would be very happy if you support my actions with your purchase from me.
Best regards
Torben Beuthien
