Transfer to Wise – normal

If you’re reading this post, your transfer to me probably didn’t work. However, this is not because I have my account in Belgium. But a transfer to Wise – is quite normal, just like any other domestic transfer.

Possible errors:
Please pay attention to the distances when entering or copying the IBAN into your bank form.
When copying, spaces (i.e. spaces) are sometimes copied as well. Spaces after the copy can also lead to an error.
My IBAN starts with BE, not DE. This is also where an error can creep in.

Wise Europe is a normal bank account in the EU. Transfers to Wise are quite normal via the SEPA procedure, like a domestic transfer. It is NOT an international transfer. There may also be no special fees charged for it. Therefore, it is also unproblematic for 99.99% of all banks to carry out the transfer normally.
Don’t let your bank sell you that it would be a foreign transfer, because this would only be the case with a bank outside the EU, or outside the SEPA procedure.
Even Switzerland and many other countries are part of this procedure and transfers to and from Switzerland are also not foreign transfers, for which some banks like to charge high fees.

If your bank is causing difficulties, please report this to me and which bank it is exactly. Wise will then inform them if necessary.
Please take a close look at what error your bank throws when it refuses or it doesn’t work. However, always have a short consultation with your bank first. Of course, they know all this ;-).

As you can see, there are a lot of banks that participate in this system! Don’t let your bank unnecessarily burden you with an international transfer and its extra fees or make the transfer complicated. It is a very simple normal SEPA transfer, just like in Germany.

With SEPA, transfers from “abroad” take about 1-2 working days. In addition, this is even faster than the fee-based “international transfer”. With Wise, it’s even faster…

Now you know why a transfer to Wise is quite normal.
