Enteric-coated empty capsules

Enteric coated empty capsules, size 00

Why are these enteric-coated capsules compared to other HPMC capsules enteric-coated?

The outer layer of these enteric-coated empty capsules made of cellulose (HPMC) ensures that the contents intended for the intestine do not already leak out in the gastric juice. The capsule can therefore resist the gastric juice. This outer coating is made of Gellan rubber. This acts as a gelling agent on the empty capsule. This coating is applied to the cellulose capsules in a dipping process. After drying, this capsule has a certain resistance to acid compared to the conventional HPMC chasubles. It is tuned in such a way that the contents in the capsule only exit in the small intestine.

Even if the capsule becomes soft due to liquids, its shelf life on the way to the small intestine is still guaranteed. This is the special thing and the difference to the non-enteric-coated empty capsules made of HPMC (cellulose).
